In the actual use of passive infrared detectors of intrusion alarm systems, false alarms often occur. As a weak signal detection device, the passive infrared detector itself is not difficult to install, but in order to minimize the false alarm of the passive infrared detector, special attention should be paid to some details during installation. Below are some causes of false positives and installation precautions to share with you.
1. The cause of false alarm
1) The equipment is damaged;
2) False positives caused by the environment:
It includes false alarms caused by facing hot and cold vents or cold and heat sources, such as air conditioners or ventilation fans, open doors and windows in the prevention area, partitions in the middle of the prevention area, or people/animals passing by.
2. Matters needing attention
1) The quality of the product itself is one of the important factors. When purchasing, you should choose a detector with 3C certification to ensure quality and perfect after-sales service.
2) Installation height: It should be installed in strict accordance with the requirements of the manual. Generally, the installation height of the wall-mounted detector is 2.0-2.2 meters;
3) Ensure that the doors and windows are closed, there is no interference within the detection range, and the detector is normally turned on;
4) Avoid hot and cold vents or cold and heat sources;
5) Avoid crossover in the detection area;
6) Reasonable location: Avoid placing objects that are easy to swing in the detection area, and choose the most sensitive location for the detector to install.
7) Reasonable selection: From indoor to outdoor, from wired to wireless, from wall to ceiling, choose the appropriate detector according to the size of the actual installation space and the surrounding environment.
8) Using a combination of various detection technologies to improve the accuracy of the detector.
